Hey fellow ramblers! Today I have a very different post and I don’t think it’s something I’ve done on my blog before. I thought this would be a fun idea and decided to try it out! I obviously couldn’t do this on my own (I haven’t read enough sassy books to make a post about it) so I reached out to fellow bloggers to help me out! I got an overwhelming response and I’m so grateful for all their help! I’ll be tagging them all at the end of this post so go check their blogs out!
I’ll also have a “sass-o-meter” rating from 1 to 10 for each book depending on where it falls in terms of sassiness and badassery (yes that’s a real word). So without further ado, let’s get right into it!
PROJECT PERSONALITY BY KELLY ANNE BLOUNT AND LYNN RUSH
sass-o-meter rating: 4/10
The premise of this book sounds so cute and right up my alley! Hope finds herself with a boring life and has spent all her life being perfect. And now she just wants to have fun. She seeks the help of the most popular guy in school and he surprisingly agrees. But when Hope starts falling for someone she never expected to, she’s second guessing every decision she’s ever made.
THE ATLAS SIX BY OLIVIA BLAKE
sass-o-meter rating: 5/10
This dark academia novel revolves around an elite secret society who have recruited six students and thrust them into a competition out of which one will be eliminated. This gives me found family vibes and I’m so here for it! They’re also a few queer elements in it which always draws me to a book.
HANI AND ISHU’S GUIDE TO FAKE DATING BY ADIBA JAIGIRDAR
sass-o-meter rating: 6/10
I absolutely love Adiba Jaigirdar’s writing! This book was so relatable and light-hearted and honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about it. Hani and Ishu are adorable together and I love Ishu’s sense of humour. If you haven’t read this yet, then pray tell, what are you doing??
REBEL SPY BY VERONICA ROSSI
sass-o-meter rating: 6/10
An undercover agent story inspired by true events? Sign me up! The fact that it’s set in the 1700s is so cool and is definitely moving up my tbr! I don’t read a lot of historical fiction but Rebel Spy sounds so interesting and I might just give it a shot!
THERE’S MAGIC BETWEEN US BY JILLIAN MARIA
sass-o-meter rating: 6.5/10
I didn’t expect this to have fae elements, but now that I know it does, I’m so much more excited for this! This seems like an amazing queer and mystical novel which, after reading the reviews, I’m so hyped up for! And I mean, look at that cover! It’s gorgeous!
AURORA RISING BY AMIE KAUFMAN AND JAY KRISTOFF
sass-o-meter rating: 7/10
I know that this book has a lot of conflicting reviews; either you love it or just don’t, but I personally adore this series and the characters are best part. Scarlett and Finian bring all the humour into this book and I can’t recommend this enough. I need the third book now. November seems forever away!
NOT MY PROBLEM BY CIARA SMYTH
sass-o-meter rating: 7.5/10
A laugh out loud coming of age novel, Not My Problem has relatable characters, and delves into serious topics in a light-hearted way. It sounds like such a fun ride and I already know I’m going to love the protagonist.
LUCK OF THE TITANIC BY STACEY LEE
sass-o-meter rating: 8/10
It’s set on the Titanic and that’s all I really need to know. And the main character is an acrobat? Even better. It also features a found family trope which is one of my favourite tropes. I’m so looking forward to this one. And this is not related (it kind of is), but I just wanted to get this out there. THERE WAS ENOUGH SPACE ON THE DOOR FOR BOTH OF THEM.
YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER BY SARAH HOGLE
sass-o-meter rating: 8.5/10
Prank wars between fiancés that are sick of each other. And the one who calls of the wedding has to pay for the non-refundable bill. If that doesn’t convince you to read this, I don’t know what will. Oh, and it’s a lover-to-enemies-to-lovers romance.
PERFECT ON PAPER BY SOPHIE GONZALES
sass-o-meter rating: 9/10
Are we really surprised for this one? I couldn’t make a sassy book recommendations post without including Perfect on Paper. Darcy is the epitome of sass. If you haven’t read this delight yet, consider this a sign. And if it wasn’t already clear, I will shove this down everyone’s throat.
CUTE MUTANTS BY S.J. WHITBY
sass-o-meter rating: 9/10
From what I’ve gathered, this is a queer X-men-inspired novel which sounds so cute! The protagonist can talk to objects which I feel like is such a cool and quirky superpower to have! And just to get this clear, I know it looks like a graphic novel, but it’s not, and only has the vibes of one. I thought the same thing first too so thank you Bertie for clearing that out!
GIDEON THE NINTH BY TAMSYN MUIR
sass-o-meter rating: 10/10
Necromancers? Check. Swordswomen? Check. Skeletons? Check. And make it lesbian. We have the whole horror package here y’all. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of horror, be it books or movies. But I’m willing to give this a try. I mean, it clearly has loads of sass.
And that’s all for today! I hope you had fun with this post and again, thank you to all the bloggers who helped me out with this post. Here they are, so go check them out and give them a follow!
